Important news: Biden-Harris administration announce new actions to promote responsible AI Innovation.

Last Thursday, Biden-Harris administration announced to promote responsible American Innovation in Artificial Intelligence(AI) to protect people's rights and safety. In this way, the American Administration marks a milestone to ensure technology is safe for all its citizens.

Considering the big impact that AI is having in different fields, for President Biden is essential to place people and communities first. To achieve this goal, he appointed the only way is “By supporting responsible innovation that serves the public good, while protecting our society, security, and economy”. In consequence, the companies that develop and provide this technology has a big responsibility to ensure their products are secures for everyone before made public.

That’s why, last Thursday, they met with CEO’s of four American companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, Alphabet and Anthropic to talk about critical issues and emphasizes its responsibility to create and develop products taken into consideration human and ethical side to avoid or reduce further harms to any individual and all the society.

With these actions, the Biden-Harris Administration are protecting its citizen not only for present but also for the future of theAI. However, this is not first time, the American government has taken this kind of measures. In February, the president Biden signed an executive order that direct federal agencies in their design and use of new technology Including AI to protect people from algorithmic discrimination. Moreover, the government is working in other important topics related with the national security as cybersecurity, biosecurity and safety.

For that reason, concerning about the significance theAI acquire in these last months, the last week, the Administration announced three measures:

1.     More investments to power responsible American AI research and development.

2.    An independent commitment from leading AI developers to participate in a public evaluation of AI systems.

3.     Policies to ensure the U.S. government is leading by example on mitigating AI risks and harnessing AI opportunities.
